Changing text layers from the downloaded template .PSD file ![]()
( Please make sure that you've downloaded and upacked the sample website template from here )
Hi there,
so you're going to change the template you've just downloaded the way you can use it for your company website?
Fine, here we go:
1.) Copy the font files that can be found in the fonts folder of your template package (in this case /sample/fonts/) into the appropriate location (for MS Windows users this is C:\WINNT\FONTS or something similar for true type fonts *.TTF)
2.) Open up Adobe Photoshop and load the file template.psd in the unpacked folder /sample/psd/.
3.) Now that you see the website layout you'll instantly know which text elements you want to change. Select the text tool from the tool box

and klick with your right mouse button on the text you want to change an then select "change".

4.) Now you can type in the wanted text.
5.) Another way to select the text is to double click on the "T" symbol of the correct layer in the layer palette:

6.) Sometimes you will have to rearrange some layers, the text doesn't fit the old location: select the move tool from the toolbox.

and use the mouse or the arrow keys to move the layer to its new location. But beware: sometimes some layers will be connected to each other, so you first have to unconnect them:

To do so, just click on the chain symbol in all layers that aren't actually selected. Now you can move the layer alone.
7.) Your final result should now look like this:
